Dancers at some stage in their training will have an injury; hopefully minor but sometimes enough to mean a visit to a physiotherapist.
The Practice Director Tony Kosoko was a professional dancer before becoming a physiotherapist and has worked with dancers from all disciplines of dance including ballet, contemporary, jazz and flamenco.
Dance imposes stress and strains to the body and many of the injuries are sustained from frequent repetitive movements, faulty technique, fatigue and even just bad luck (a fall).
The most common injuries include those to the lower limb, (hip. knee, ankle), lower back and neck.
The Practice physiotherapists are all specialists in the use of Pilates rehabilitative exercises in the management of dancers injuries and dancers have access to our fully equipped Pilates studio to help not only in their injury rehabilitation but also to maintain their fitness with dance specific exercises that do not compromise their particular injury.
Dancers from companies and schools including Rambert Dance Company and School, London Studio Centre and many independent dancers have attended The Practice for their rehabilitation.
